Division IV Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect 2010 Candidate Statement
IEEE and its technical societies face multiple challenges, both technological and social, while considering the need for globalization to achieve stated missions and goals. IEEE, being an international organization, must reach out to members and professionals throughout the world. The complexity of technology requires synergy between different disciplines and technical areas on one hand as well as cooperation between professionals from different countries and regions. Such cooperation can be enhanced by the IEEE, particularly through collaboration between society members.
My position tagline is "Benefit from Diversity." As a Division Director, my focus will be on encouraging and facilitating communication between IEEE Board, TAB Management, and other IEEE entities to Society Presidents and their administrative committee (AdCom). Not one goal can effectively be achieved alone. Societies and Councils can identify mutual fields of interest in the emerging technologies and join forces in developing such technologies.
Furthermore, Societies can cooperate in implementing cost-effective procedures and processes for increasing membership and generating revenue, for instance through joint conferences and membership initiatives. Often all that is required is the DRIVE to get down and do it.

The IEEE is committed to enabling technical professionals to bring together their technical expertise and vigor to addressing the most significant contemporary challenges. I will work with our Societies and all members of the IEEE Community to engage in IEEE’s exciting new direction. I believe Division Delegates/Directors must reach out to Regional Directors to bring together the two parents of our Chapters, the Society and the Section.
My role as Division Delegate/Director will be to work with Society Presidents to disseminate and share knowledge and encourage cooperation in the technical as well as in the membership and social fields. It will be my role as Division Delegate/Director to be a mentor and advisor to the Presidents of Division IV Societies and Councils, to assist them in leading their societies, and in seeking and implementing paths of cooperation for the benefit of their societies, the IEEE, and their members.
I pledge: - To support the goals and mission of the IEEE by bringing forward the concerns and considerations of Societies and Councils
- To work with our Region Directors to support effective, vibrant Chapters
- To work with you to promote your personal objectives
- To work with you to enhance IEEE’s contributions effective in addressing world’s challenges
